Our History.

In 1973, a local Dutch craftsman asked Jack Gesmundo to help him build a custom home. Jack soon learned the value of superb design, attention to detail, and strong client relationships.

After attending a conference on energy efficient design, Jack was inspired by the realization that great homes could not only be beautifully crafted, but also be built in harmony with the world.

When Jack launched Hawks Hollow Builders, he was among the first in the area to include energy performance as a critical consideration in luxury home design. Hawks Hollow was also a pioneer in green-built homes

.

A new, old-fashioned way of looking at things.

Jack also learned from his mentor the value of creativity, by putting his attention to each project. By thinking outside the typical home-built box.

That approach quickly helped make Hawks Hollow the area’s most-sought-after custom homebuilder. It established Hawks Hollow as a company committed to building homes that are sustainable, that stand the tests of time, and that truly fit their owner's lifestyle.

Consistent growth.

Hawks Hollow has grown steadily since its founding. Now, under the leadership of Sera Gesmundo, Jack’s daughter, it continues to build on its reputation for integrity and craftsmanship.

Sera joined the company in 1989 while attending college. Her creative eye for detail and talented designs adds tremendous value to projects. She acquired her Builder’s License in 1999. She served on the board of directors for the Home Builder’s Association of Western Michigan for four years. Sera received the 2016 Builder of the Year Award.
